The iPhone 7 will be the first phone to come loaded with the updated iMessage, including all those bubble effects, fireworks, and Snapchat-like features. Or, the real surprise could be the device's name: some say it won't be called the iPhone 7, but rather the iPhone 6SE for "special edition."Īlso launching today is the new Apple Watch 2, which the tech giant first teased during the June WWDC keynote, alongside the iOS 10 messaging updates and Swift Playgrounds. The iPhone 7's new colors are rumored to include Deep Blue, glossy black, and matte black, but knowing Apple, they could throw in a total surprise hue for fun. Instead, it would be replaced with a haptic-touch sensor which would allow users to employ different kinds of taps for various functions, such as opening the home screen and activating Siri. It's almost universally acknowledged that the device won't have a headphone jack, and might include a new home button that's actually not a button at all.
2016 apple keynote upgrade#
We've previously reported that the new iPhone is expected to have better battery life, a camera upgrade (with possible dual cameras to support VR and low-light shooting) and waterproofing. Oddly enough, those first rumors haven't changed much over the past year, with similar predictions still making the rounds on tech blogs. EST, Apple CEO Tim Cook will unveil the new iPhone during one of the company's signature keynotes in San Francisco. It's the day we've been waiting for since last December, when we wrote about the very first batch of iPhone 7 rumors.
